How it works

Electricity in four simple steps

No branch visit, no agent in the middle. You buy real electricity units, see exactly what you pay for, and move power between meters when someone you trust needs help.

1

Create your free account

Sign up with your email and phone number. Verify your email, then log in on the web, mobile app, or USSD.

2

Register your electricity meter

Add your meter number once. gPawa supports prepaid token meters (STS) and smart networked meters (AMI).

3

Buy electricity units

Pay with mobile money (for example MTN MoMo). Your payment is converted to kilowatt-hours (kWh) using official block tariffs — no hidden fees.

4

Use, share, or borrow

Load units onto your meter, send kWh to family or a neighbor, or apply for a small electricity loan if you are short. Interest is capped at Uganda's legal maximum of 2.8% per month.

Use gPawa your way

The same wallet and meter work across all channels — start on USSD and finish on the web, or the other way around.

Web portal

Full dashboard — buy units, share, loans, and meter history.

Mobile app

Same features on your Android phone, wherever you have data.

USSD

Dial the service code on any basic phone — no smartphone required.

Built for communities that share power

From Soroti to every campus grid - gPawa makes peer-to-peer electricity sharing simple, transparent, and fair.

Secure Energy Sharing

Every transaction is recorded in your history. Share kWh between meters with a clear summary and your account password to confirm.

Instant STS Token Delivery

Purchase prepaid tokens via your mobile telecom service provider in seconds. Tokens conform to IEC 62055-41 and work on compatible Electricity Utility meters.

Peer-to-Peer Unit Transfer

Send electricity units directly from your meter to a neighbor's. STS meters receive keypad tokens while AMI meters auto-update.

Micro-Electricity Loans

gPawa credit engine offers instant micro-electricity loans capped at Uganda's statutory 2.8% per month, with no paperwork or branch visit.
